I love reading God’s Word and you should too, it’s your compass to get you through! In the morning, during the evening or maybe for a mid-day break, just pick up your Bible and read it every day.
Are you a saver? Do you put a little something away for another day? Well, it could mean anything. Most often, leftovers are saved after a hearty dinner or late lunch, or perhaps you just enjoyed your favorite dessert, and it was a bit too much! It happens.
Have you ever had something that you really liked and couldn’t stop eating and after it was all in your stomach, you ached the next day. It wasn’t from an upset from an overstuffed belly. Not at all. You just wished you had saved some for the next day! Oh, the pain and agony you felt. If only…
Of course, I must go there…Have you checked your piggy bank lately? Full or empty? Things happen. It’s a good thing to save for a rainy day. You don’t want to be caught without your umbrella. It’s best to be prepared, not scared. Let’s see what God has to say about saving…
In the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 2 verse 16 it says, “On the first day of every week, each one of you should put aside as much money as you can from what you are blessed with. You should save it up, so that you will not have to collect money after I come.” (ICB)
Sounds like a plan. It pays to listen to good advice, and the Bible is the place to find it.
In the book of Proverbs chapter 12 verse 15 it says, “A foolish person thinks he is doing right. But a wise person listens to advice.” (ICB)
Did you know that even ants are savers…They’re hardworking little critters. In the book of Proverbs chapter 30 verse 25 it reads, “Ants are not very strong. But they store up food in the summer.” (ICB)
Joseph knew exactly what to do when he learned about the forthcoming famine… He told hto put away some grain now so when the drought came there would be grain for food later. Smart move. Let’s read all about it in the book of Genesis chapter 41 verse 34-36… “And let the king also appoint officers over the land. They should take ⅕ of all the food that is grown during the seven good years. They should gather all the food that is produced during the good years that are coming. Under the king’s authority they should store the grain in the cities and guard it. That food should be saved for later. It will be used during the seven years of hunger that will come on the land of Egypt. Then the people in Egypt will not die during the seven years of hunger.” (ICB)
And I saved the best for last… What did Jesus come to save?
“The Son of Man came to find lost people and save them.” (Book of Luke chapter 19 verse 10, ICB)
And God didn’t stop there…. More to come later. See you soon and in the meantime read the Bible for yourself.
