I love reading God’s Word and you should too, it’s your compass to get you through! In the morning, during the evening or maybe for a mid-day break, just pick up your Bible and read it every day.
Aah, spending…Let’s face it, spending can be fun, but it can also leave you on zero when you’re done. When we love our things a bit too much, we go overboard. Wanting the latest this or that and Lovin’ our stuff more than anything else can get you in big trouble. You want that thing so badly that you will do anything to get it. Not cool at all.
Let’s see what God’s Word has to say about spending…In the book of 1 Timothy chapter 6 verse 10 it says, “The love of money causes all kinds of evil. Some people have left the true faith because they want to get more and more money. But they have caused themselves much sorrow. “ (ICB)
You grow more apart from God until you’re separated and doing stuff you should not be doing like borrowing…
“The rich rule over the poor. And borrowers become servants to those who lend.” (Proverbs 22 verse 7, ICB)
It’s easy breezy when you’re spending, but when payback shows up it’s weighty…
This is the deal… Do you really need to buy that new pair of sneakers in the latest trending color of the season? You have so many shoes already that your closet is starting to look like a retail outlet, but your mind keeps nagging you; if you don’t get that particular color and brand, you won’t have the collection! Ugh.
The cell phone with all of the latest tech gadgetry and upgrades galore which you probably won’t use anyway has you up at night. You just got to have it even though your phone works perfectly. Don’t forget the new case! Who would think of placing the outdated model in a worn-out case that you’ve only had for a few months.
Mm, I get it. And of course, Jesus does too.
In the book of Luke chapter 12 verse 15, “Then Jesus said to them, “Be careful and guard against all kinds of greed. A man’s life is not measured by the many things he owns.” (ICB)
GREED IS NOT NEED.
“ My God will use his wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need.” (Philippians chapter 4 verse 19, ICB)
DO yourself a favor. Stop stressing over having more stuff you don’t need.
“Don’t worry and say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ All the people who don’t know God keep trying to get these things. And your Father in heaven knows that you need them. The thing you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will be given to you.” (Matthew 6:31-33, ICB)
Ditto. I can’t say it any better than that.
SPENDING the Bible way…
And God didn’t stop there…. More to come later. See you soon and in the meantime read the Bible for yourself.
