I love reading God’s Word and you should too, it’s your compass to get you through! In the morning, during the evening or maybe for a mid-day break, just pick up your Bible and read it every day.

One of your classmates just got on the bus lugging a cumbersome backpack bulging at the seams. She unloads and places her book bag on the floor near her feet. It’s sticking out a bit in the aisle. You get on the bus, looking for an empty seat. Suddenly, you trip over her bag and awkwardly fall on top of it. The bag unzips with some of her titles gracing the floor. At the same time, your school chums decide it’s funny and boisterous laughter fills the atmosphere. It’s a circus.

You get up, shaken, quite embarrassed, and check for any dislocated parts. None. Thank God! Anyway, she’s apologetic and concerned… Everything appears to be okay, so you don’t sweat it until she says, “You’re in my history class, are you ready for the big final exam tomorrow?” You grin while peeking into your backpack and whisper “Oh no, my notes,” You’re in panic mode since you had planned a review with your study notes for the final. You grin and announce, “I’ll be ready, see you” and rush out of the bus just in the nix of time before it starts moving and the impending rainfall begins.

Whoa! Now you’re on your way back home with your notes safely in your possession. You got a spring in your step thanking God all the way to your doorstep and intermittently throughout the rest of your day including the nighttime hours until you’re asleep! You can’t believe what just happened and what could have happened if you hadn’t run into her backpack. Later, you discovered nearly everything you had jotted down in your notebook was covered on the test which you aced…Coincidence?

Divine Interception…The Bible has a lot to say about that, let’s see. I’m sure Jonah felt something fishy was going on after he didn’t obey God’s directives then tried to hide from God in the cargo area of a ship. Later a storm ensued and the violent winds shook the waters leaving the passengers on board scared to death wondering why… They soon discovered it was Jonah who had caused the problem. In the book of Jonah chapter 1 verse 14 to 17 it says,

^“So the men cried to the Lord, “Lord, please don’t let us die because of taking this man’s life. Please don’t think we are guilty of killing an innocent man. Lord, you have caused all this to happen. You wanted it this way.” Then the men picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea. So the sea became calm. Then they began to fear the Lord very much. They offered a sacrifice to the Lord. They also made promises to him.

And the Lord caused a very big fish to swallow Jonah. Jonah was in the stomach of the fish three days and three nights.” ((ICB)

God has some pretty ingenious ways to get our attention. He’s the creator of the universe! Duh. God always has a plan.

Let’s not forget about what happened to Daniel. He was up close and personal shut in without an escape route in a tight space with a bunch of ravenous lions…But God! Check it out in the Book of Daniel chapter 6 verse 16 to 23,

“So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.

At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”

Daniel answered, “May the king live forever! My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”

The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.” (ICB)

What a mighty God we serve who knows the end from the beginning… Everything he says and does is… God does anything He wants because He is God! Spectacular indeed.

The story of Elisha is another powerful display of God’s divine interception. Elisha needed backup so he called on his God for help…Let’s read about it here;

“The king of Aram was at war with Israel. He had a council meeting with his officers. He said, “I will set up my camp in this place.”

But Elisha sent a message to the king of Israel. It said, “Be careful! Don’t pass that place. The Arameans are going down there!”

The king of Israel checked the place about which Elisha had warned him. Elisha warned him several times. So the king added guards in those places.

The king of Aram was angry about this. He called his officers together. He said to them, “Tell me who of us is working for the king of Israel.”

One of the officers of the king of Aram said, “No, my master and king. It’s Elisha, the prophet from Israel. He can tell you what you speak in your bedroom.”

The king said, “Go and find him. Then I can send men and catch him.”

The servants came back and reported, “He is in Dothan.”

Then the king sent horses, chariots and a large army to Dothan. They arrived at night and surrounded the city.

The servant of Elisha got up early. When he went out, he saw an army with horses and chariots all around the city. The servant said to Elisha, “Oh, my master, what can we do?”

Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid. The army that fights for us is larger than the one against us.”

Then Elisha prayed, “Lord, open my servant’s eyes. Let him see.”

The Lord opened the eyes of the young man. And he saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

As the enemy came down toward Elisha, he prayed to the Lord. He said, “Make these people blind.” So the Lord made the Aramean army blind, as Elisha had asked.

Elisha said to them, “This is not the right road. This is not the right city. Follow me. I’ll take you to the man you are looking for.” Then Elisha led them to Samaria.

After they entered Samaria, Elisha said, “Lord, open these men’s eyes so they can see.” So the Lord opened their eyes. And the Aramean army saw that they were inside the city of Samaria!”

Divine Interception. Point blank. Ditto.
